Shasta Mountain Sport provides several types of MTB training and skills clinics for beginners, intermediate and racers.

Team work on a tricky decent day 3This one-day course is ideal for riders who want a foundation of skills to improve their mountain bike riding. Participants will learn and practice the 5 core skills needed to ride a variety of terrain and improve bike handling. Instructions include:

  • Balance
  • Braking
  • Steering
  • Peddling
  • Body position
  • Cornering
  • Trail obstacles
  • Trail Flow

In this workshop-oriented class participants will receive instruction and then practice the skills on natural terrain and man-made obstacles. The course will also provide an overview of safety, bike fit, equipment options, and accessible trails to practice in and around Santiago.

Every person coming out of this class will have the necessary hands-on knowledge to become an improved mountain biker and be able to ride more challenging terrain.


Our mountain bike clinics are taught by experienced instructors who use effective IMBA coaching techniques to help you get the most out of your riding. We use a progressive approach to skills building to ensure that each new skill is understood and practiced before we go the next level.
